Paula is a Research Assistant for the Center for Health and Social Research. She graduated from SUNY Buffalo State in 2015 with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Geography and Urban and Regional Analysis and Planning and minors in Geographic Information Systems and Environmental Science. At the Center, Paula participates in community health-related projects and assists with map-making and management and analysis of spatial data.
Paula’s interests involve the use of geographic information systems and quantitative methods to study urban environments. Her recent research projects include creating a mobile data collection and mapping application to conduct an inventory of property conditions for Buffalo’s West Side neighborhood and a study of equitable access to walkable neighborhoods. She has presented her work at the SUNY Buffalo State Student Research and Creativity Celebrations and the Middle States Division of the Association for American Geographers conference, and she is an active member of the Association for American Geographers and the Western New York GIS User Group.
